What We Do
Ennis Road Community First Responders is a volunteer-run community group that works in conjunction with the National Ambulance Service to respond to specific 112/999 calls in our area. Our volunteers are all locally based, professionally trained responders.
We train our volunteers to deal with emergencies involving heart attack, cardiac arrest, stroke and choking. We are notified by the National Ambulance Service, at the same time as an ambulance, when these incidents occur in our area. Our volunteers will attend the scene, initiate treatment of the patient and help in any way we can. We never replace an ambulance and crew, we aim instead to reduce the time a patient with a life-threatening illness will wait for initial and in some cases life-saving treatment.
Our responders are equipped with an emergency medical supply bag that includes an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). All our volunteers are trained in using AEDs and basic first aid – skills that can be life saving not only whilst on-call but also in everyday circumstances.
